RE: 23 JAN 19
GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
HONGKONG. 7th. November, 1918.
Sir,
I have the honour to report that, in August last, Sir Henry May gave his approval of the release of two more Sanitary Inspectors, Messrs. Meade and Haigh, for active | service, and, in order to be sure that the work of the Department should be efficiently carried out with a further depleted staff, informed the Sanitary Board that he had appointed Mr. E. W. Hamilton, Passed Cadet, to supervise the outdoor work of the Department, r. Hamilton having anoted in a similar post on a previous occasion.
2. It has been found that the majority of Mr. Hamilton's work now falls between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. leaving the remainder of his day free, and I have therefore instruct- -ed him to continus, in addition to his other duties, certain work connected with the settlement of Land Titles in New Kowloon, which he had been carrying on in his previous appoint. -ment as Assistant District Officer, South.
3. The double duties involved will entail a considerable increase of work for Mr. Hamilton, with long hours, but I am confident that he is well able to perform both, and the Head of the Sanitary Department concurs in this
arrangement.
4. in these circumstances,
I have to
recommend
HE RIGHT HONOURABLE
WALTER LONG, M.P.,
